When spring peeks, the sap runs.
We visited Larry for his annual maple syrup boil again this year. Generous as always, we were immediately offered beer and homemade sausages upon arrival. It wasn't long before I found myself wandering back and forth through the hodge-podge sugar shack. It's like a little museum— filled with artifacts—some found, others handcrafted by Larry and the other "sap suckers." Every time I'm there, I learn something new just by looking.
Larry is wonderfully intriguing and a great story teller. And you don't even have to hear him talk to know that. You can get a sense of his personality and warmth through the lines of his face. This is one of my favorite photos I've taken in a while (along with a few others):
